High Mileage Week
Last night I completed the first run in what is going to be the highest mileage week I have run not only this year, but ever.
If I follow through I will run 28 miles this week.
As I spoke of my plan to an older, wiser, more seasoned runner he was very encouraging. He thought it would be good for me to shoot for this kind of miles. He went on to challenge me to do it for the rest of the month. Run 7.25 miles every other day.
Last night as I ran I begin to think through what it would look like if I in fact cold maintain this kind of mileage over the course of the month. I then began thinking what it would look like to do this over the course of a year.
Who knows this HMW may turn into HMM – High Mileage Month, then HMY…
Then I had an epiphany. I had just run 7.25 miles for the second time in a row. Years ago when I first began running, I would have never thought that I would be running 7.25 miles and liking it. Last night I felt the same way I did 5 years ago when I first started running 5 miles regularly.
It felt good.
Can I keep it up? We shall see. I know it feels good to not run tonight knowing that it is ok because I am going to run 7.25 miles tomorrow.
I like to run.
