I have coached my two oldest boys’ soccer team for three seasons now. I have learned much during these 3 seasons. The most important lesson I have learned is that I am not a coach.

I am a good dad.

I am fun.

I like to play soccer, football, tag and any number of other sports-like games with my boys.

I’m really good at wrestling the boys.

I am a good public speaker.

I am able to motivate people towards a common goal.

I am a good leader.

But, I am not a coach.

I’m not really sure what the difference is… but whatever it is, it isn’t me. That’s ok. I don’t have to be a coach. I don’t have to coach my boys. I don’t have to b something I’m not.

I can be what I’m good at. Being a dad.

Will I coach the boys next season?

Absolutely not. And I’m ok with that.

What description or identity are you hanging on to that you should let go of?

What are trying to be that you are not?

You don’t have to be something you are not. It’s ok.
