the Journey of a 1000/750 Miles – Week 7 & 8

Week 7:

This is the week where I began to realize how important to me getting an accurate count of data really is. A friend gave me and old GPS watch and it was during the use of this watch this first week, that I realized how valuable it is to me to know how far I’ve run, how fast I’ve run it and what my split times are.
  1. Sunday –  Took the boys to run up on the dirt path that follows the retention pond between Lake Susannah and Lake Baldwin. They had a great time. They think we ran 2 miles, they only ran a little more than 1/2 a mile. In total I ran 1.62. Not much but something to get out and play with my new (it was a hand-me-down) fancy GPS watch.
  2. Monday – No run… Would have run but my infamous motorcycle decided to crap out on me and I was too tired to run.
  3. Tuesday – Ran with Gray at about 11am and I plum wore him out. Ran 4.5 in 41:28, a 9:12/mile pace.
  4. Wednesday – After long staff meeting, trip to Kissimmee for a doctor appointment and wrapped up a few things at home I determined it was too late to run.
  5. Thursday –
  6. Friday – ran 4.5 miles
  7. Saturday – ran 4.51 miles

What I Learned/Realized while running this week:

I need to do a better job of tracking this for blogging purposes. I track it several places, but being able to write about it I need to write it in real time.

Week 8:

I don’t know why but I always start my run weeks off slowly and then I feel like at the end of the week I’ve got this giant obstacle of running that needs to be overcome. This week was no different. I want to change that next week.

  1. Sunday –  Nope
  2. Monday – nope
  3. Tuesday – 3.96 mile run that was good.
  4. Wednesday – nothing
  5. Thursday – 4.61 mile that I enjoyed greatly.
  6. Friday – nada
  7. Saturday – 7.50 mile long run in 1 hr 11 min. I am happy with that.

What I Learned/Realized while running this week:

I like longer runs and want to begin to implement a long run into my weekly runs. My new goal for a distant is to run half-marathon distance of 13.1 miles. That would be great. I put in a longer run this week and it felt great.
