Go Hard or Go Home

I was listening to a Lecrae song and the tag is go hard or go home. I began to think about how I apply this to my spiritual life. I realize too my approach is go soft and then go home.

What I mean is when things don’t work out the way I had planned or how I thought God was gonna do it, its is often because I didn’t bring my ‘A’ game. I expected to not have to do anything, when in reality God wanted me to put the effort out and trust him to use my efforts and the circumstances he orchestrates.

So I go soft (a half-hearted attempt) and then I go home (assume God isn’t working).

As Christ-followers we have to be better than that. We have to go hard (trusting God implicitly with everything) or hang it up and go home. In Revelation Jesus says to the church in Laodicea he is going to vomit them out of his mouth because of their lukewarmness. He says, in effect, pick one! Hot or cold, but just pick!

Trusting Jesus is a lot like riding a motorcycle. It’ scary to first couple times, but once you get the hang of it you realize there is no better feeeling.

Are we gonna trust Jesus, or be content to be softies who fail to trust?

  1. Ain’t this what the worthless servant did when he burried the Lord’s pledge in the ground? And Ain’t that what we see most folks do with truth? Whether it’s the ultimate truth of Christ, or the simple truth of nature, we see folks avoiding the hard things in this life. We’re not to judge. But even I stand judged when I can’t find the strength to out war the fears of this world. Woe to all who burry truth, even the truth of Christ Jesus.
    By His Grace.

    • Precisely. When we bury the truth or chicken out we are backing down from the power of the Spirit God has called us to and given us. Thanks for the reminder of that parable.

  2. Great write-up, I’m regular visitor of one’s site, maintain up the excellent operate, and It is going to be a regular visitor for a long time.
